Services

What we do for you

Six services. You take only what you need; nothing is tied together by obligation. What a service costs in your situation is set out in the proposal you receive after the introductory meeting.

ongoing

Bookkeeping and accounts

Your books kept up to date, your VAT and payroll taxes filed on time.

An interest in running a business and an interest in keeping its books rarely go hand in hand. We take the administration off your hands or keep it up to date alongside you, so you know where your business stands at any moment — not only once the financial year is long over.

What this includes

  • Keeping your financial records, online or from the documents you supply.
  • Preparing and filing your VAT returns.
  • Running your payroll administration and filing the payroll tax returns.
  • Interim figures whenever you need them, for instance for the bank.

The software we work with

We work with high-quality accounting software, including Unit4 and Exact. If you already use a package you are happy with, we connect to it; switching is rarely necessary.

What you keep doing yourself

We agree this up front and put it in writing. Some entrepreneurs only hand in receipts, others do their own bookkeeping and leave just the checks and the returns to us. Either works.

Annual accounts

The figures for the past financial year, and a conversation about what they mean.

The annual accounts are not a compulsory exercise that disappears into a drawer. We discuss them with you: what do the results say about your business? Which investments are sound? Is a change of course needed? We like to let your figures do the talking.

What this includes

  • Compiling the annual accounts.
  • Reviewing the annual accounts, where a review report is required.
  • Preparing the abridged accounts for filing with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK).
  • Preparing and filing the corporate income tax return.
  • A discussion of the outcomes, with or without advice on request.

Compilation or review

In a compilation engagement we organise and process your data into a set of annual accounts; we do not provide assurance on the accuracy of the figures themselves. A review engagement goes further and results in a review report. Which of the two you need depends on your legal form, your size and what financiers ask for. We tell you in advance which engagement fits.

Tax matters

Returns taken care of, changes in legislation flagged in good time.

We keep an alert eye on your tax affairs and respond as early as possible to changes in legislation or case law. Where needed we work with other specialists, such as a civil-law notary or a corporate lawyer.

What this includes

  • Preparing and filing income tax and corporate income tax returns.
  • Preparing and filing VAT and payroll tax returns.
  • Guidance on tax schemes and subsidies.
  • Liaising with the Dutch Tax Administration on your behalf, where necessary.

Working with specialists

For business succession, a restructuring or a dispute we bring in a civil-law notary or tax lawyer. We remain your point of contact and keep the pieces connected, so you never have to mediate between advisers yourself.

Advisory

Beyond the tax side: performance improvement, process optimisation, second opinions.

We go further than the purely fiscal side of our profession. We would rather work with you on improving overall performance, so that tax optimisation becomes part of a bigger picture. Think of temporary support with process optimisation, or a second opinion on advice you received elsewhere.

What this includes

  • Natural advisory: the advice that flows naturally from our regular work.
  • Standard advice on recurring questions.
  • Specific advisory engagements with their own terms of engagement.

How an advisory engagement runs

The NBA distinguishes three types of advisory services and structures them in five phases: engagement acceptance, data gathering and analysis, execution, communication of the outcomes, and evaluation. We follow that sequence, even for small engagements. It prevents advice from quietly becoming something other than what was agreed.

Advice for start-up entrepreneurs

Business plan, budget and credit application — substantiated well enough for the bank.

Capital providers, whether a bank or another financier, regard a budget drawn up by an accountant as essential substantiation of an application. We prepare that budget for you and make sure the assumptions behind it hold up.

What this includes

  • Setting up a business plan.
  • Preparing realistic, well-substantiated budgets.
  • Calculating liquidity forecasts.
  • Formulating credit applications.

A budget that holds up

A plan with figures that look too good convinces no financier and does not help you either. We calculate what happens if turnover disappoints or costs come in higher, and state it honestly. That is exactly what a financier is looking for.

Advice on grants and subsidies

Finding your way through the schemes, together with subsidy specialists.

All sorts of subsidies exist for innovative ideas. That creates opportunities to renew your business, but the sheer number of schemes also makes for complicated application procedures. Whether your plans are grand or modest: more is often possible than you think.

What this includes

  • Checking which schemes apply to your plan.
  • The financial substantiation of the application.
  • Working with subsidy specialists where specialist knowledge is needed.
  • The accounting afterwards, where the scheme requires it.

You know the cost in advance
